0690 LARKSPUR SUMMER SUN
Improved selection with uniform double
flowers in a formula mix on sturdy stems
showing good resistance to mildew.
Excellent cut flower. Sow seeds directly
in the open ground but stratify seed in the
fridge for 10 days to improve germination.
0700 LAVATERA PARADE MIXED
A formula mixture of bushy early-flowering
plants with dark green leaves covered in 10cm
diameter flowers in shades of Pink, Rose and
0720 LILY PANDORA’S BOX
Trumpets, Aurelians, Speciosums, Orientals,
Henryiis and more - many of them highly
perfumed in a rainbow of colours. Such a
mixture of species will give you lilies flowering
from early through to late summer. Ideal for the
back of the border, large pots and tubs,
enhancing woodland and, of course, for cutting.
For best germination results, sow seed shallow in
good quality mix barely covering it. First seeds
will germinate in 4-6 weeks whilst some may not
appear to be doing anything for months. In fact,
these ones may already be forming a bulb before
sending up a leaf. Leave your tray undisturbed
for several months before planting out clumps of
the mix into pots or the garden. Protect against
slugs, aphids, seedlings drying out and visitors
with secateurs! Consult gardening books for
additional information. Always provide lily bulbs
with sharp drainage to the point of fanaticism
and lots of well composted mulch to keep the
bulbs cool and well fed. Divide bulbs in autumn
every 3-4 years.
0725 LILY REGALE
New Zealand Christmas Lily
An old perfumed favourite! Sow seeds very
shallow barely covering them with quality seed
raising mix. Plant out when two or more true
leaves have formed and healthy white roots are
present. Good drainage is essential and regular
well rotted mulch will keep the bulb cool,
suppress weeds and provide it with much want-
ed humus. Protec t against aphids
0718 LIGULARIA TALIS
Ligularia is a robust herbaceous (dies back over
winter) perennial with large long stalked dark
green leaves and orange yellow daisy like flowers
in early summer. It is used in massed plantings
in moist shady gardens and gives struc ture to a
large garden when planted en masse.
0730 LIVINGSTONE DAISY
A mixture of bright and strong colours,
dazzling in the sun, making an excellent
summer ground cover. An improved selection
with a low growing spreading habit, it looks
great “en masse” in a sunny position or used to
compliment a rockery. The seed is very fine and
requires light to germinate so should only be
pressed firmly into the surface of seed mix.
0740 LOBELIA COMPLIMENT
Perennial Lobelia with long, spectacular,
unbranched flower spikes on display only
5 months after sowing. Excellent cut flower. Co-
lour range includes deep Red, deep Rose, Rose,
Pink, Scarlet and deep Violet.
0735 LOBELIA COLOUR
Perfect for hanging baskets and balcony tubs
with lots of miniature blossoms in a wide colour
range of Pink, Carmine, Maroon, Violet, Blue,
White, Lilac and Red, many with a White eye.
Lobelias are usually known as shade plants but
Colour Cascade will perform beautifully in the
sun where summers are not too hot. Very lightly
cover seed. Plants require good soil or mix and
plenty of water.
0750 LUPIN RUSSELL MIXED
Magnificent at the back of the border, for
cutting or naturalised in a cottage garden
setting. The stately flower spikes include Rose,
Yellow, Red, Crimson, Blue, White and many
lovely bicolours with attractive green foliage.
They resent transplanting, sow direct, or in jiffy
pots for planting out. A tepid soak for 24 hours
before sowing assists seed germination. Give
good drainage and cool conditions.
